PDA, Wireless and RSS content

Frequent, regular updates

The PDA, WML and RSS pages are updated every time the other news or opinion sections of the Biblical Recorder site are updated.

PDA-Friendly Content

These news and opinion files are designed to fit portable digital assistants.

To make the PDA-friendly pages as portable as possible, they use simplified HTML, are stripped of almost all images and may be abbreviated.

They are kept in a separate directory tree to make them especially easy to download to your PDA.

Wireless Markup Language Content

Wireless markup language, or WML, was developed and implemented for cellular telephone Web browsers.

The Biblical Recorder's WML is separately validated in an effort to ensure its compatibility with as many cell phone browsers as possible.

The Biblical Recorder offers a complete WML home page at http://www.biblicalrecorder.org/wml. Note that some cell phones might work better by going to http://www.biblicalrecorder.org/wml/index.wml.

Unless you are using a cellphone or PDA to browse the site, your browser may not load our WML.

If you wish to read the WML pages in a standard desktop browser, however, there is a good, free solution. Download the latest Mozilla or Firefox browser. Add the wmlbrowser extension. Restart your new Mozilla or Firefox and use it to read our WML content.

RSS Feeds

RSS is the abbreviation for "rich site summary." The Biblical Recorder's combined RSS feed is available at http://www.biblicalrecorder.org/rss/br.xml.

You may also subscribe to sections of the Biblical Recorders Web content. They are:

Subscribe to the Editor's Journal RSS feed by pointing your RSS client at http://www.biblicalrecorder.org/rss/ej.xml.

The Biblical Recorder RSS feed is updated simultaneously with the posting of news and other site content updates.

The Editor's Journal RSS feed is updated at least once a day, usually right after a new blog entry or comment is posted.

An application used to access RSS feeds is generally referred to as an "aggregator."

There are several good, free applications with which to access our RSS feed:

There is a version of AmphetaDesk for almost every operating system. AmphetaDesk is a cross-platform, highly customizable, news aggregator. It sits on your desktop, downloads the latest news that interests you, and displays them in your Web browser.

Windows-only Feedreader has a wide following. It is a lightweight, open-source aggregator. It works under Windows 95 and later versions.

Mac OS X-only NewsFire" pleases many users. NewsFire constantly checks for freshly published news from your list of news feeds and notifies you.

Or you may prefer the Web browser Firefox 1.0 and above, which offers integrated access to RSS feeds via a feature called Live Bookmarks.
