In the only contested election, CJ Bordeaux, pastor of Gorman Baptist Church in Durham, was elected second vice president over Ray Davis, pastor of Forbush Baptist Church with 53 percent of the vote.
Yount has been first vice president of the Convention, and Harris has been second vice president for the past year.
Yount was nominated by Greg Mathis, pastor of Mud Creek Baptist Church, who called Yount “a man of conviction and passion, with a genuine love for the Lord and for people.”
Yount, a North Carolina pastor for 30 years, is an MDiv graduate of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and earned a DMin from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. His son, Eddie, is pastor of Mount Hebron Baptist Church in Taylorsville.
Yount will have a “sharp mind and steady hand during these days when opportunities for ministry abound,” Mathis said.
