You never know what God will do

Thanks for the wonderful coverage on Operation Inasmuch. Thirteen years ago our staff sat on the porch of a beach cottage with our new pastor, David Crocker, making plans for the coming year.

When we discussed our spring revival, we talked about doing something different that would take our people out of the pew; something that would really get them involved.

Our children's minister, Kathy Shumacher, said something about doing practical things to show people God cared and that we cared. In a matter of minutes the plan evolved: two nights of preaching about Jesus' commands to help people, one night to organize and then go out Saturday and do the work. David suggested we call it Operation Inasmuch.

Our lay people loved it! The testimony on Sunday morning by a lady who had a new roof on her house brought tears and determination to repeat the process. And here we are 13 years later with nearly 1,000 churches and 60,000 participating in Operation Inasmuch on one day.

You never know what God's going to do with a simple idea!
