Glad to offer CP refund

For several weeks, I have resisted the urge to reply to "Wants a Refund." I was a bit angry when I read his request. Having asked forgiveness and resolved my anger, I have a request of my own: send it to him!

I have no idea how much I "owe" him; but I'll be willing to send my share back. For more than 50 years I have been a beneficiary of the Cooperative Program (CP). It assisted me as I prepared for ministry with college and seminary. It supported work I was called to in ministry. It has allowed me to take part in world-wide ministries of untold dimensions.

Along with other faithful stewards, I have assisted un-wed mothers, abused children, the sick, students who wanted an education, and older adults; not to mention thousands of missionaries around the world whose primary request has always been our prayers, not our money!

Each time I read the Biblical Recorder to keep me informed, I know that gifts through the Cooperative Program make it possible.

Perhaps along with a refund check, we could send him a list of all that he has benefited from this resource. Maybe that would soften his heart to be not so judgmental of another's calling to a specific ministry with which he disagrees. He may even join the faithful, dedicated stewards of God's blessings who have over the years astounded the Christian community in their commitment to the mandate of the gospel.

As I understand New Testament stewardship, we should give cheerfully as God has prospered each of us. While I admit the CP is not perfect we continue to refine it and until something better comes along, count me as a grateful supporter.
