In your (printed) issue of Feb. 16 regarding what you refer to as the "New Baptist Covenant" the tone and content of your articles seem to portray Jimmy Carter as the spokesman for all Baptists. Some time ago the media reported that Jimmy Carter made the statement that Jesus is not the only way to get to heaven, when he was trying to placate and curry favor from certain other world religions. Rather than attempting to portray Jimmy Carter as some kind of a hero, why did you not ask him if he made that statement and if he believes it to be true? If he answers yes to those two questions, and you give him a pass on that, you should read your Bible and ask yourself about your own beliefs.
You and I both know that the Bible, in John 14:6, quotes Jesus as follows: "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Our Father and our God is the only person in all of history who has ever been qualified to create a New Covenant!
