Thank you for the good coverage you gave the New Baptist Covenant meeting in Atlanta. I read this week's (printed) issue (Feb. 16) from cover to cover. It was probably the most inspiring Baptist meeting I've ever been in and believe me, at my age, I've been in quite a few!
Not only did I enjoy the atmosphere of love and belonging that everyone seemed to experience, and the diversity of the people attending, the messages and testimonies inspired me to come home and be a better Christian, realizing there are still things I can do in God's kingdom.
I appreciate your coverage of Naw Blooming Night Zan. Some of us had helped sponsor Vietnamese to the U.S. years ago. Her message really touched me. I came home, called Lutheran Family Ministries and asked if they had any of the Karen people of Burma to place. She assured me they did. I immediately called our pastor and asked about possibilities of our church taking a family. Our missions coordinating council will meet with Lutheran ministries to discuss it in March. We who are so blessed have a big responsibility before God to help the least of these.
I was proud that North Carolina had both WMU and Baptist Men speaking in the break-out sessions. I was pleased to see former President Clinton speaking as a Baptist calling for reconciliation between us and responding to each other with a spirit of love. May it be so in our Convention.
