Hovis a great choice to lead CBFNC

It was delightful to hear that the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of North Carolina (CBFNC) has chosen Dr. Larry Hovis to lead the next chapter of its development. Larry will bring to this good work something I could not during my term as CBFNC coordinator - an experienced pastor's heart. As a brand new intentional interim pastor, I am learning more of what it means to perform weddings, be present during hospitalization, pray with the bereaved, visit with those who do not get out, meet with numerous committees through the week, represent the congregation, and the most joyous of all-to baptize new believers, not to mention the sermons and teachings that seem to occur every few days.

Just as I was blessed to be part of CBFNC for five years, I am blessed and happy finally to be part of pastoral ministry in a local church. Now more keenly aware of the responsibilities that accompany the pastorate, I also am aware of the value of such experience in service beyond the local church.

As a former CBFNC Council member and moderator, Larry Hovis already brings valuable experience and knowledge to the task, but his pastoral experience and pastor's heart prepare him exquisitely for CBFNC leadership.

Congratulations to CBFNC and to Larry Hovis!

Bob Patterson,
