'1950's way of thinking'
"Women are built for having babies, not fighting battles." - former SBC president Adrian Rogers at the SBC Pastor's Conference.
I hope this quote was reported out of context. If not, then it just makes me very sad to think that there are people in the ministry who can be so insensitive to others. I don't think women should fight on the front lines of combat, but to compare having children to fighting in a war is ridiculous. Have we retreated back to the days where a woman's worth is measured by her ability to reproduce? Some people are worried that the Baptists are stuck in the 1950's way of thinking. Is there any wonder why after reading this quote? I hope Rev. Rogers didn't mean for his statement to sound the way it does. I know one thing - it certainly doesn't sound Christ-like to me.
