"Funding denied for Hendersonville church." The Baptist State Convention (BSC) denied church-start funding for Providence Baptist Church. The request was opposed by the Carolina Association (Henderson County) which was given veto power by the BSC. Providence Baptist has a woman pastor.
"Cullowhee church may be removed from association." The Tuckaseigee Association is recommending that a church with a woman co-pastor be removed from the association.
Is anyone considering the inspired word of God or just picking what fits their agenda?
In Gal. 3:27-28 we see that when we are baptized in Christ, we put on Christ and there is neither Jew nor Greek, bond nor free, male nor female for we are all one in Christ Jesus. Do I assume those opposing have not been baptized in Christ?
Luke 9:49 and 50 is where John tells Jesus that they saw one casting out devils in His name and they forbad him because he did not follow them. He was told by Jesus to leave him alone since those not against them were for them.
Due to the struggle going on in the Southern Baptist Convention, I think of the words of Dan. 12:4; "But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased."
Does man know better than God who should be called to serve Him?
Do men know there is still gender after baptism? Can man say, "Forbid any that do not follow with us"?
I miss the old Southern Baptist ways!
