Struck by ministry needs of South Africa

Recent articles in the Biblical Recorder have highlighted the special financial needs of our South African brothers and sisters in Christ. In the April 20 edition I was especially struck by the need of Pastor Bathwell Mketsu to feed more than 400 children every week in Khayalitsha, South Africa. He does not have the needed finances to feed these hungry children. I wanted to help him but I was not sure how.

I have learned that the process of getting money to South Africa is a simple one. Donors can send a letter, with a check made out to the Baptist State Convention, to the attention of Ms. Kathi Kestler. The letter should explain that you want the money designated for Pastor Bathwell Mketsu in Khayalitsha, South Africa to buy bread. The Baptist State Convention will handle the financial transaction to get the money to South Africa.

With the leading of the Holy Spirit I have chosen to send Pastor Mketsu some money to feed the hungry children.

There may be other readers who would like to help Pastor Mketsu, or contribute to other needs of the South Africans, such as the urgent request for $3,000-$5,000 by Laudium Baptist Church, in an Indian township north of Johannesburg, to match what the congregation is raising to complete church construction as noted under "Partnership Opportunities" in the May 5th (printed edition of the) Biblical Recorder.

American dollars go a long way when converted to South African rand. One U.S. dollar equals approximately 8 South African rand.

I hope this information is helpful to your readers. I have been to South Africa on two missionary trips and know the need is great. May the Holy Spirit guide you in how you can help spread the gospel in South Africa. I know that God will bless you!
