Meeting set to discuss WMU issue

East Taylorsville Baptist Church is hosting an information meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18 at which at least one representative of the Baptist State Convention (BSC) will explain the issues around Woman's Missionary Union's decision to relinquish its position as a BSC auxiliary.

According to organizers, this meeting results from "overflow interest" stemming from a similar meeting called together by Yakin Baptist Church pastor Tim Rogers Sept. 3 in Statesville. Rogers said about 50 persons attended that meeting at the Box Car Grill and some suggested another be held in a larger venue.

Rogers said significant confusion exists both among pastors and among their WMU volunteer leadership. "We want to hear from the Baptist State Convention what's going on," Rogers said. "We have to be able explain things to our own WMUs."
