BSC giving plan listening sessions scheduled for April

From contributed reports

Persons wanting input into the four missions giving plans used to distribute funds worldwide for missions and education will have a chance in April.

In response to messengers to the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina's (BSC) annual meeting in Winston-Salem in November, convention staff and officers are holding six "listening" sessions across the state to gather input on Plans A,B,C and D, which churches use to forward their missions gifts around the world.

Leroy Burke, budget committee chair, and Robert Simons, BSC comptroller, will conduct the sessions. Dates and places include:

  • April 15 - Rocky Mount First Baptist Church - 2 p.m.
  • April 16 - Jacksonville First Baptist Church - 10 a.m.
  • April 19 - Matthews First Baptist Church - 2 p.m.
  • April 20 - Buncombe Association Building Worship Center - 10 a.m.
  • April 20 - Franklin First Baptist Church - 7 p.m.
  • April 21 - Southside Baptist Church in Greensboro - 10 a.m.
  • "I look forward to meeting North Carolina Baptists in these sessions and hearing their valuable input about our giving plans," said Simons. "These plans have grown out of the need to accommodate the missions giving desires of a very diverse population in our churches. We're faithful to the wishes of individual churches and allocate every dollar as they desire."

Although there are four basic plans, churches can designate their gifts among them or create their own distribution list.

The format of the meetings will be a short presentation on the history and make up of the giving plans, with a time for discussion and questions. For additional information call Simons at (800) 395-5102 ext 359.
