Online Advertising Overview

The Biblical Recorder online has a loyal, rapidly growing audience which currently features visits from some 60,000 unique Internet addresses each month. Cookie data suggests that those unique addresses represent a substantially larger audience of individual readers.

The Biblical Recorder online reaches a nationwide audience. Site users are most heavily concentrated in North Carolina. There are also users in at least 45 foreign countries and on every continent.

Where there is Internet access, there too are users of the Biblical Recorder Web site.

Because the Biblical Recorder is a leader in online publishing innovation, its readers have a wide choice of Web-accessible formats.

Growing numbers download the site to their personal digital assistants.

Many use cellphone connections.

Even more use one of the Biblical Recorder's several RSS feeds to watch for updates in an area ofinterest.

Each pipeline can offer you a different advertising opportunity.

Audience interests

Our studies show that readers come to the site primarly for the Biblical Recorder's widely respected news and opinion writing, and for the pioneering Editor's Journal blog and online community. They come for the online ads, especially the classifieds. Readers regularly visit the online calendar of events of interest to Baptists, read the Sunday School lessons, use ChurchSearch to help them find a new church home and enjoy the site's other features.

They come in growing numbers because the Biblical Recorder has a 172-year track record of combining journalistic balance and with the open debate to which good secular newspapers aspire. Journalistic excellence is delivered side by side with much-desired Baptist-oriented services and abundant opportunities for believers to refresh and share their faith and for the lost to be saved.

Online ad formats

Advertisers with products and/or services to offer North Carolina Baptists, and other Baptists who are as far-flung as the Internet itself, may use static or rich media in any of a variety of standard formats.

These include most of the industry standard ad sizes in the Interactive Advertising Bureau Ad Unit Guidelines. Rates are based on the number of views each ad is likely to get, and on the relative effectiveness of each kind of ad.

Ads may be linked directly to advertiser's Web site, or to an information page created and host for you by the Biblical Recorder.

Please see the Online Advertising Products and Rates and the Important Technical Details for more information. All prices are either run-of-site, per month, or for current pages which support placement of particular ad formats. Quotes are available on request for quarterly placement.

Special sizes, shapes and placements may, at the discretion of the editor, also be negotiated.

Deadlines

The deadline for receiving ads is two weeks prior to the publication date. All online ads must undergo technical review prior to publication. The Biblical Recorder does limit the volume of advertising that may be placed on a single page. The combined initial load of the ads may not exceed 100K.

Space is sold on a first-come, first-serve basis, with one important reservation. The Biblical Recorder reserves the right to refuse to accept advertising from any advertiser and to do so at its sole discretion.

Advertisers are responsible for any factual or other errors made in their ads and for any and all liability arising therefrom. Advertisers are responsible for securing and maintaining the copyright of their material.

Corrections, when the advertiser deems them necessary, must be in hand one week before scheduled publication. The cost of staff time, material and/or other charges incurred by the Biblical Recorder in the process of making such corrections will be billed to the client/advertiser as a part of the cost of the ad.

Purchases are for a minimum of one month.

Classified Ads

Biblical Recorder classified ads are among the Web site's most heavily used products.

Classified ads in the printed product will be priced at $1.10 per word or separate initial for Baptist churches and organizations, $1.35 for commercial and non-Baptist entities with a minimum charge of $35. For example, "S.B.C." or "N. Broad St." would count as three words while "SBC" or "1330" would count as one word. Ads will include the name of the staff position or items offered for sale in bold print on the first line.

Classified ads which are published in the print edition are posted - at no additional charge - on the Web site. Those ads will run for the same length of time as the printed ads.

Classified advertisers wishing to post ads on the Web site alone can do so at a cost of $25 for up to 50 words, or $50 for up to 100 words.

Online-only classified ads remain visible for a period of one month. They can be renewed for additional months at half price.

Payment Policies

First-time advertisers should submit payment with their order. Previous advertisers with established credit will be billed at the end of each month with payment due upon receipt of invoice.
